And So It Begins... [LOTR, ROTK]

It must be the heat. It can't be anything else.

Here are some possible reasons for me to start a blog, and corresponding anti-reasons.

1. I've been told I'm some kind of cross between Dostoevsky and Dave Barry.
Anti-reason -- I am naive, but I'm not that naive. Everyone who said that asked for loans within 13 hours.

2. P~, whom I listen to more than's good for him or me, has been asking me to write one for at least a year now, maybe two.
Anti-reason -- If I did everything P~ asked me to, I'd be up in the Himalayas laughing at human folly. Instead, I'm writing a stupid blog.

3. Irrepressible Craving for Expression
Anti-reason -- This is kind of personal, but I generally tend to err on the side of constipation.

4. Extreme joblessness
Anti-reason -- This is not the first Sunday I had nothing to do. On all previous occasions, I just concentrated on doing the said nothing efficiently. I most definitely didn't go around creating blogs.

5. Inspiration by fellow bloggers
Anti-reason -- Well, I did recently see a couple of blogs I liked. But scores of women in Atlanta and Dallas will tell you that when I see something I like, I just see it a little more, call up S~ and exchange notes on how life sucks. Man of inaction, c'est moi!

As Sherlock Holmes used to tell his chum Watson, "When you've eliminated the impossible, what remains must be the Really True Truth, even if you see it in an ISKCON pamphlet". So, there! We get to the real reason I'm starting this blog:

It must be the heat. It can't be anything else.

Warning:
This blog was almost named "Random Thoughts" after a column by the same name on www.cricketnext.com, written by a bloke we'll call R. You see, like Mr. R, I want to write, but again like Mr. R, I really have nothing to say. Unlike Mr. R, however, I'm not getting paid to do this. So if you thought "Random Thoughts" sucks, this one will outsuck it. Amen.
